COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A suspect wanted for outstanding warrants exchanged gunfire with police officers at Mt. Carmel St. Ann's Hospital Monday afternoon, with that suspect shot and killed.

Westerville Police Chief Charles Chandler says the suspect was being treated in the hospital's emergency room for a medical issue, when officers attempted to perform a transfer of custody.

The suspect then began firing at Westerville Police officers, and officers at St. Ann's Hospital, and was shot. ER staff immediately begin resuscitation efforts on the suspect after the shooting, but was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one else was hurt in the gunfire. An additional firearm was recovered at the scene.

The Ohio BCI is now investigating the incident.
