Congressman Steve Stivers to Step Down, Effective May 16th

WASHINGTON, DC (WTVN)--Ohio Republican Congressman Steve Stivers has announced he will step down from his position.

The news came in a statement Monday morning, and is effective May 16th. Stivers says he will then take over as President and CEO of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce.

Stivers has represented Ohio's 15th district in Congress since 2011, which includes parts of Columbus and Franklin County, as well as areas south and east of Columbus, down to Athens.

While in Washington, Stivers served as Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, from 2017 to 2019.

Outside of Congress, Stivers is a Major General in the Ohio National Guard, and previously served in active duty in Iraq, as a Battalion Commander.
