COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The Columbus Blue Jackets confirmed on Sunday what was rumored near the end of a disappointing season for the team, that the CBJ and Head Coach John Tortorella mutually agreed to part ways.

The news follows the win Saturday over Detroit, which ended their season, where the CBJ finished in last-place in the Central Division.

Tortorella coached the jackets for six seasons, compiling a 227-166-54 record. The team made the Stanley Cup Playoffs four times under his leadership, and won their first playoff series in franchise history in 2019, in a 4-game sweep of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
