COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The Ohio Attorney General has referred two cases of shooting deaths involving Columbus Police Officers back to the Franklin County Prosecutor.
Dave Yost says the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation took over the cases involving the deaths of Andrew Teague on March 5th, and Ma'Khia Bryant on April 20th.
Teague was shot and killed after leading police on a high-speed chase along I-270, and confronting officers after he crashed his vehicle. Part of that chase involved him going the wrong way on the highway. Teague was wanted on outstanding warrants.
Bryant was shot and killed when a CPD officer arrived on the scene of a disturbance, and she was seen on police body-cam video lunging at another person with a knife.
Yost says the process at this point will take time, with the Franklin County Prosecutor set to convene a grand jury for possible charges in the cases.
