COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--An undercover sting by the Franklin County Sheriff's Office and Hilliard Police led to three arrests, and the seizure of 4 kilos of fentanyl.
Investigators say the sting began back in May of 2021, culminating in the arrests on Thursday.
Alvaro Hernandez and Magally Ruelas-Gonzales were arrested as they were traveling to meet the undercover informant for the drug transaction.
Officers pulled over their vehicle, then a Sheriff's K-9 discovered the fentanyl, worth an estimated $800,000.
Arturo Benavides was also arrested in subsequent raids of three residences around Franklin County. The suspects are charged with felony Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs, and investigators say more charges are possible.
