COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Columbus's latest homicide occurred outside a a busy store, near the Easton Town Center.
Officers say the man was shot and killed near the front door of the Target on Morse Crossing just before 11:30AM Monday morning. Police say the victim made a purchase at the Starbucks, and was waiting out front, when a man approached him and shot him.
The victim died at the scene, and the suspect fled in a dark-colored sedan, possibly a Chevrolet Impala.
The suspect is described as a black man, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, and grey or tan long pants. The victim's identity has not been released.
Monday's shooting also marks the 175th homicide of 2021, which ties the record set just last year, for the most homicides in the city in a calendar year.
