COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Graduates of Columbus City Schools will now get free tuition if they attend Columbus State Community College.
City and school leaders announced the plan on Wednesday, through "The Columbus Promise" program. It applies to graduates beginning with the class of 2022.
Eligible students can fill out the FAFSA form, and will get tuition paid for up to six semesters, to complete a two-year degree or shorter certificate program.
The offer applies to both full-time and part-time students. Applicants are also eligible for up to $1,000 to cover other expenses, like transportation and books.
CCS Superintendent Dr. Talisa Dixon says the program will help graduates get the skills they need as they enter the workforce.
