COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--In an effort to cut down on crime near the OSU campus, the Columbus Police Department recently teamed up with the State Highway Patrol for a Bait Car operation, resulting in three arrests.

The bait was deployed five times on Friday in a 6-hour period. In one instance, the theft resulted in a foot chase. In another case, the suspect attempted to steal the vehicle 10 minutes after it was deployed.

That suspect was also found with a loaded gun, and a CCW charge was added.

All suspects arrested were juveniles, and in one of the thefts, both suspects were 15 years old.

The neighborhood near the OSU campus has been plagued with crime this year including robberies, vandalism, and assaults. Parents of OSU students have asked the university for more help in cutting down on crime in the area.
