Ohio State Unveils New Football Field Design

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Ohio State Buckeye football fans are used to the team having a unique look every once in a while, but now the field at Ohio Stadium will have a new look in 2022.

The University's Department of Athletics revealed the design of the new field turf that will be installed at "The 'Shoe" this summer. The department took fan suggestions, with over 1,300 ideas submitted.

Some of the changes noted include the addition of buckeye leaves to replace the X's at the 35-yard lines, that are used for kickoffs, the lettering in the end zones matching the other playing surfaces at OSU, and the playing field boundaries being gray.

The university replaces the playing surface every 8 years.
