COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Hundreds of Franklin County Sheriff's deputies will be outfitted with body cameras by the end of the year, thanks to approval by the county commissioners.
The commission approved a contract with Watchguard on Tuesday, worth $2.5-million. 550 sheriff's deputies will be trained and equipped with the devices.
The policy for their use was also approved, with the cameras required to be recording when deputies are responding to calls, and when interacting with the public.
The cameras also have a "look back" feature, which is able to grab footage shortly before it is activated. It is similar to the cameras now worn by all Columbus Police Officers.
