COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A shooting at Franklin Park Monday afternoon left a 15-year-old girl dead.
Columbus Police responded to the park just after 3pm, where the victim was found with a gunshot wound. The first officers on scene rendered first aid before medics arrived.
The victim, later identified as 15-year-old Lovely Kendricks, was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital, but later died.
CPD Assistant Chief Lashanna Potts spoke to reporters at the scene, saying parks in Columbus are still safe.
She adds while gun violence is down in the city this year, the department is still working with community to keep incidents like the one on Monday from happening again.
Monday was Columbus's 110th homicide of 2022.
