Academy Award winner Robert De Niro and retired Capitol police officers bashed former President Donald Trump outside the Manhattan courthouse where closing arguments in his "hush money" trial were taking place on Tuesday (May 28).

De Niro and the former Capitol officers Michael Fanone and Harry Dunn, both of whom testified during the House Select Committee investigation into the January 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol, slammed Trump during a campaign presser for President Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic candidate in the 2024 election, before being interrupted by a Trump supporter who accused the two officers of lying under oath, leading to a heated argument.

A separate video captured shortly after the interaction showed several Trump supporters swarming De Niro's vehicle and yelling vulgarities at the actor.

Trump, the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee, pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts of falsifying business records and his defense attorney, Todd Blanche, maintained his innocence in the closing arguments.

“President Trump is innocent. He did not commit any crimes, and the district attorney has not met their burden of proof, period,” Blanche said, claiming the evidence in the case should “leave you wanting," via the Associated Press.

Blanche also attacked the foundation of the case, which stems from Trump's alleged conspiracy to conceal hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels during his 2016 presidential campaign in order to prohibit her from going public with claims that she had a sexual encounter with him a decade earlier.
