4 Ohio Destinations Among The '25 Most Affordable Cities' In The U.S.

Do you live in one of the most affordable cities in America? If you live in one of four major cities in Ohio, the chances are likely.

A lot of factors go into one destination being a more affordable place to live than another, from your bank account taking a hit each month with rent or mortgages to variables like utilities, insurance and loans all adding up for one major price tag that can be higher than average depending on which city you call home.

Visual Capitalist compiled a list of the "25 Most Affordable Cities" in America for 2025, ranking the 50 largest cities in the U.S. based on the average household spending on alarm & security, auto insurance, auto loan, cable & internet, health insurance, life insurance, mobile phone, mortgage, rent and utilities.

Among the cities on the list are four destinations right here in Ohio, with two ranking in the Top 5:

  • No. 2: Cleveland
  • No. 3: Dayton
  • No. 15: Cincinnati
  • No. 18: Columbus

According to the report, Cleveland ranks as the most affordable Ohio city on the list, spending an average of $1,735 each month on the factors listed above. Dayton falls close behind at $1,773 while the other two cities round out the list at $2,065 and $2,101, respectively.

The other three cities rounding out the top five are Detroit, Michigan (No. 1), El Paso, Texas (No. 4) and Rochester, New York (No. 5). Additional cities featured on the list include Louisville, Philadelphia, Jacksonville and Houston, to name a few.
