Bridge Demo Begins Monday Night
Despite ice and snow season, it's time to demolish a bridge and build a new one on the South Side Mega Fix. The two bridges that carry both directions of Interstate 71 traffic over I-270 are being re-built. In order to demolish the old bridges safely, there will be major closures at the interchange of I-270 and 71 all next week beginning Monday, weather permitting. Below is the schedule.
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2018
9 PM: I-71 SB reduced to one lane between Greenlawn Ave. and Dyer Road. 9 PM Ramp from Greenlawn to 71 NB closes Detour: I-71 SB to SR 104 to I-71 NB.10 PM: all lanes of I-270 EB closed between Gantz Rd. and I-71. Detour: I-270 EB to I-71 SB to Stringtown Rd. to I-71 NB to I-270 EB. 10 PM: I-270 WB reduced to one lane between US 23 and I-71.10 PM: I-71 NB reduced to one lane between Stringtown and I-27010 pm : I-71 SB reduced to one lane between Stringtown Rd. and I-270. 5 AM: all ramps and interstate lanes open

10 PM: I-270 WB reduced to one lane between I-71 and US 23.5 AM: All lanes of I-270 WB open
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 14 - THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2018
10 PM: I-270 WB reduced to one lane between US 23 and I-270. 10 PM: Ramp from I-270 WB to I-71 SB closed. Detour: I-270 WB to US 62 to I-270 EB to I-71 SB.10 PM: Ramp from I-71 NB to I-270 WB closed. Detour: I-71 NB to Rt. 104 to I-71 SB to I-270 WB5 AM: Each morning, all ramps and lanes of I-270 WB open.
Steel Beams on Grant St. Bridge Coming Down
With the concrete bridge deck gone, it's now time to remove the steel beams from the old Grant St. Bridge in downtown Columbus. Work will occur during overnight hours beginning Monday, February 12, weather permitting, because traffic volumes are the lightest. Below are details on how traffic will be maintained during demolition.
MONDAY FEBRUARY 12 - TUESDAY FEBRUARY 13, 2018
9 PM: I-70 EB reduced to two lanes between I-71 and SR 3159 PM: Ramp from Broad St. to I-71 SB closed. Detour: Broad St. to I-71 NB to I-670 WB to SR 315 SB to I-71 SB.11 PM: All lanes of I-70 WB closed between the east split and SR 315. I-70 WB traffic will be re-routed using I-71 NB to I-670 WB to SR 315 SB to I-70 WB.5 AM: all lanes and ramps open.
WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 14 - THURSDAY FEBRUARY 15, 2018
By 11 PM both I-70 EB & WB will be closed between I-71 (east split) and SR 315 (west split).
