Celebration of Life Wednesday for Coach Earle Bruce
The public is invited to St. John Arena for a 10:30 a.m. ceremony to honor Coach Bruce
COLUMBUS, Ohio – A celebration to honor the life of Coach Earle Bruce will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Arena. The general public is invited to attend the approximately hour-long ceremony that will feature speakers and music by students from the Ohio State University Marching and Athletic Bands. Parking is free in the North St. John Arena lots and the North Riverbank lot.
Longtime WBNS 10-TV sports anchor Dom Tiberi will emcee the celebration. The speakers will include Urban Meyer, Jim Tressel, coach Bruce’s grandson Zach Smith, current assistant coach Tony Alford, who played for Bruce at Colorado State, and longtime 610 WTVN announcer Matt McCoy, who spent 23 years on the air with Bruce.
Ohio State All-American William White, who played for Bruce, will deliver the invocation.
The Bruce family members will be departing St. John Arena immediately following the celebration. They will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 North High Street, Columbus.
Services and burial will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church for family, close friends, former players and coaches.
