Senator Ted Cruz beat last night TV host Jimmy Kimmel in a charity basketball Saturday (June 16th) at Texas Southern University that Kimmel called the Blobfish Basketball Classic. The Texas Republican beat Kimmel 11-9 in the game -- in which each basket counted for one point -- in the two-hour match after they agreed to cut it short after neither of them seemed able to reach 15 points and win by two. Speaking for both himself and Cruz, Kimmel said, "We apologize to the game of basketball." The game came out of a joke Kimmel made saying that Cruz resembled the ocean bottom-dwelling blobfish, which Cruz responded to by challenging him to a basketball game.
