France beat Croatia 4-2 to win the World Cup yesterday (July 15th) in Moscow, earning a victory in the tournament 20 years after its previous lone World Cup championship in 1998. Croatia fell short as it was trying to win its first-ever World Cup. France's young team included 19-year-old Kylian Mbappe, believed by many to be the next global face of soccer, who scored the team's fourth and final goal, becoming only the second teenager to score in a World Cup final after Pele, the legandary Brazilian player who was 17 when his team beat Sweden in 1958. This was a second victory for coach Didier Deschamps, who was the French team's captain 20 years ago when the team won the World Cup.
Celebrations often turn ugly though...
