There were 23 people injured yesterday (July 16th) when lava crashed through the roof of a sightseeing boat off Hawaii's Big Island. The tour boat takes people to see lava from the still-erupting Kilauea volcano as it plunges into the ocean, and it was an explosion caused by the 2,000-degree lava going into the ocean water that sent the molten rock through the boat's roof. One woman was in serious condition with a broken thigh bone, while the 22 others suffered burns and scrapes. Officials have warned about getting too close to lava entering the ocean, but several companies operate boat tours to view it.
Maybe the boat operators should stay back a bit...
