A fireball isn't something you generally see in the night sky over your home. But that's what illuminated the sky over Missouri and neighboring states Monday night (August 27th.) The American Meteor Society said witnesses submitted more than 340 reports of the fireball-- most were in Missouri, but others came from folks in Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, and Nebraska. The group said there was visible fragmentation in the fireball, indicating its velocity was low and it went through the atmosphere.
