Simba back on the big screen

Simba is headed back to the big screen! Donald Glover and Beyonce are starring in the Lion King remake helmed by Jon Favreau. Glover stars as young Lion Simba, while Beyonce voices Nala, a childhood friend and later, a love interest of Simba's. The cast includes James Earl Jones reprising his role from the 1994 animated film as Simba's father Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Simba's villainous uncle Scar, Alfre Woodard as Simba's mother Sarabi, with JD McCrary playing the young version of Simba. The original animated Lion King clawed in $968 million. Favreau’s live action version is set to open July 19th, 2019.
