San Francisco Giants president and CEO Larry Baerwas granted a leave of absence by the team Monday (March 4th) after TMZ published a video Friday of him in a physical altercation with his wife at a San Francisco park. Both San Francisco police and Major League Baseball are investigating the incident. In the video, Baer's wife,Pam, is sitting in a chair when he reaches over her to grab for a cellphone in her hand and she falls sideways to the ground in the chair, screaming, "Oh my God!" Baer, holding the phone, then says, "Stop, Pam, stop," and walks away. The couple said in a statement Friday that they regretted having a, quote, "heated argument in public over a family matter" and that they were embarrassed by the incident. Baer issued an apology later, saying, "I am truly sorry for the pain that I have brought to my wife, children and to the organization. It is not reflective of the kind of a person that I aspire to be, but it happened and I will do whatever it takes to make sure that I never behave in such an inappropriate manner again."
