Super Bowl trivia and preview

America's unofficial national holiday arrives on Sunday (February 2nd), when Super Bowl 54 will pit the San Francisco 49ers against the Kansas City Chiefs. It takes place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, home of the NFL's Miami Dolphins. This is this stadium's sixth Super Bowl, last hosting the NFL championship game 10 years ago in February 2010. Fox will be airing the big game, and their broadcast will include hours of pre-game coverage, including an interview with President Trump, before getting to the main event at 6:30 p.m. E.T. The game will be streamed on FoxSports.com and the Fox Sports app.

THE TEAMS:

49ers: This will be the seventh Super Bowl for the 49ers and their first appearance since 2013, when they lost to the Baltimore Ravens. But that was their only championship game loss, having won their five other Super Bowls. If they win on Sunday for a sixth time, they'll tie the New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most Super Bowl titles. Kyle Shanahan is in his third year as head coach for the 49ers, his first NFL head coaching job. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will be starting in a Super Bowl for the first time, although he has two championship rings from the 2014 and 2016 seasons, when he was backup to Tom Brady with the New England Patriots.

Chiefs: This will be the third Super Bowl appearance for the Chiefs, but their first in 50 years. They lost the very first Super Bowl in 1967 to the Green Bay Packers, and won Super Bowl IV in 1970 over the Minnesota Vikings. The is the second Super Bowl for head coach Andy Reid, whose Philadelphia Eagles lost to the New England Patriots in February 2005. The Chiefs are led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, their first round draft pick from 2017, who won the NFL MVP award for the 2018 season.

ENTERTAINMENT: Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will headline the halftime show. Demi Lovato will sing the National Anthem, and "America the Beautiful" will be performed by gospel singer Yolanda Adams.
